Mashed potatoe. I just can’t make it myself so resort to buying it. Marks and Spencers make an excellent cheddar mash which microwaves in 5 minutes and is 4% fat…..I do like eating it at restaurants too and find a lovely dollop underneath a fillet steak works a treat. Popular in UK, America and Australia it’s a great way to eat potatoe, especially when you’re not in the mood for fries or boiled spuds.

Mmmm…my favourite cut of meat. If you get a nice piece from a butcher which has been ‘hung’ for a month or so, the meat will be awesomely tender.
Grilled or fryed, it works best, with the fat melting through the steak to create that awesome flavour. Barbeque works good too.
The best fillet steak I’ve had was at Mystic Dunes golf club in Florida. The fillet stake was on top of some roasted vegetable topped with mash potatoe and blue cheese. But aside from the lavish accompaniments, the fillet steak itself was just amazing soft and melted away as you bit into it.
Aside from that, the steak houses in Amsterdam such as Toro Del Rado offer an amazing steak also with their own flavouring added.
I’ve found fillet steak stir frys really well too, another good way to cook it.
Forget fillets being fatty now, our local butcher has the ’steroid steak’ as I call it, where the meat is super lean with very little white fat at all.
So go on and enjoy a nice lean fillet steak, it reminds you life is worth living!

Scallops are a beautiful shellfish that tastes excellent. I would always eat a scallop fully cooked preferably without roe.

Scallops with roe (the orange)
My favourite way to eat scallops is shallow fried – butter works good or olive oil when I’m feeling healthy. About 3-4 minutes each side is ideal, you will get to know how you like them done (e.g.less or more cooking). Cut a scallop open after about 5 mins and feel the centre to see if it’s warm. I usually shallow fry over a medium heat also.
A little salt at the end helps bring out the mystical flavour and texture. Indulge in the knowledge that you eating a low fat protein, not farmed in a cruel way and packed with zinc.

I prefer my scallops without the roe as above - eating 12-15 in one sitting preferably!
If you are looking for good scallops try your local fish monger or I prefer the New England scallops from Marks & Spencer I tend not to eat scallops in restaurants as you inevitably end up with 3 small scallops and are charged for the price of 30.
Accompaniments include boiled rice and a salad as my preference. But fries or potatoes work too. A little salt is OK but scallops must be eaten as they are without sauces or extra flavours such as lemon.
Enjoy!
