Scallops are a beautiful shellfish that tastes excellent. I would always eat a scallop fully cooked preferably without roe.

Scallops with roe (the orange)
My favourite way to eat scallops is shallow fried – butter works good or olive oil when I’m feeling healthy. About 3-4 minutes each side is ideal, you will get to know how you like them done (e.g.less or more cooking). Cut a scallop open after about 5 mins and feel the centre to see if it’s warm. I usually shallow fry over a medium heat also.
A little salt at the end helps bring out the mystical flavour and texture. Indulge in the knowledge that you eating a low fat protein, not farmed in a cruel way and packed with zinc.

I prefer my scallops without the roe as above - eating 12-15 in one sitting preferably!
If you are looking for good scallops try your local fish monger or I prefer the New England scallops from Marks & Spencer I tend not to eat scallops in restaurants as you inevitably end up with 3 small scallops and are charged for the price of 30.
Accompaniments include boiled rice and a salad as my preference. But fries or potatoes work too. A little salt is OK but scallops must be eaten as they are without sauces or extra flavours such as lemon.
Enjoy!
